Supervision of markets and conduct of business

The aim of supervision of markets and conduct of business is to promote confidence in the markets and activities of service providers operating in the markets.

Factors building confidence include:

  • qualitative, clear and up-to-date information on products and services
  • market participants’ appropriate codes of conduct for marketing, contract terms and conditions and in customer relations otherwise
  • disruption-free functioning of trading venues in the securities markets

The Supervision of Markets and Conduct of Business department supervises investor information relating to securities offerings and other investment products, as well as listed companies’ disclosure obligations and IFRS financial statements.

The department supervises the codes of conduct as regards investment services provision and activities of funds, service providers’ internal processes and organisation of activities, as well as codes of conduct of the banking, insurance and securities sector vis-à-vis customer relations and the activities and financial condition of unemployment funds.

The department supervises trading in the securities markets and the related reporting. It also investigates potential cases of securities market abuse.

The department handles authorisation and registration applications within its area of responsibility and participates in the development of regulation in its field and in international supervisory cooperation.
